Traffic Control Device Sales
Signs, barricades, drums, cones and safety gear in stock, plus custom signs made and installed.

Contractors, municipalities and facility managers who buy traffic-control devices are usually solving one of two problems: a job starts Monday and the gear has to be on the truck, or a stock of devices has worn past the point where it should still be deployed.
A-1 Barricades has supplied both since 1977 — the full range of MUTCD-compliant devices, sold outright, from a local counter rather than a national catalog with a lead time. We are a pre-approved TDOT subcontractor with ATSSA certified staff, so the specification advice that comes with the order is held to the standards it cites.
The devices a work zone actually needs
Regulatory, warning and temporary work-zone signs; Type I, II and III barricades; water-filled barriers; temporary fencing; drums, cones, tubular markers and delineators; arrow boards and message boards; hi-vis apparel and hard hats; barricade tape, stands, posts and ballast.
Compliance built into the selection
Devices that meet the MUTCD requirements the specification will be checked against — correct sheeting classes, correct sizes, correct striping. Knowing the standard is most of the value of buying from a specialist rather than a general supplier.
Custom signage, made and installed
Street name blades, event wayfinding, AUTHORIZED TRAFFIC ONLY, parking and access notices, site rules and project boards — anything built from letters, numerals and wording, produced to your copy. We stock the posts and hardware to go with them, and we install as well as supply. Logo reproduction and custom graphics are the one thing we do not fabricate.
Local stock and local answers
The same people who answer the phone know the equipment. For a Chattanooga contractor, that is the difference between a five-minute call and a support ticket.

FAQ
Device Sales questions
- Do you sell to the public or only to contractors?
- Both. Contractors and agencies make up most of the volume, but individual purchases — a homeowner association closing a private drive, a church managing event parking, a property manager marking a hazard — are welcome. Call (423) 265-3054 and tell us what you are trying to accomplish.
- Can I buy a single sign, or is there a minimum order?
- Single items are fine. Call with what you need and we will confirm availability.
- How do I know which devices my job requires?
- It comes from the traffic-control plan and the governing agency's specification, which set device types, sizes, sheeting classes and spacing based on roadway speed, lane configuration and duration. If you have a plan, work from it. If you are early and unsure, describe the road and the work and we can talk through what setups like it normally take.
