Traffic Signs
Regulatory, warning and construction signs, custom lettering, posts and installation.
Nine categories cover the great majority of what a work zone or event needs — including water-filled barriers, temporary fencing and portable traffic signals. Every item meets the MUTCD or ANSI standard its application calls for.

The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, published by the Federal Highway Administration. It is the national standard defining the design, placement and use of traffic-control devices on public roadways, and it is the reference nearly every work-zone specification is written against. Part 6 covers temporary traffic control — work zones.
Yes. A-1 Barricades is a pre-approved subcontractor with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, which means a prime contractor can put us on a state highway project without waiting on an approval cycle first.
Yes. Our staff hold certifications from the American Traffic Safety Services Association — the industry body that trains and certifies the people who design, install and supervise temporary traffic control. It is the reason the specification advice you get over the phone is held to the same standard the inspector will check the job against.
Yes — owned and operated from Chattanooga since 1977. A-1 is not a branch of a national roll-up and not answerable to an out-of-state investor, so decisions about your job are made by the people you are already talking to. It also carries the stock and the fleet to take on work that smaller local outfits have to turn down.
Yes, all three, by the job and delivered on our own trucks. Water-filled barrier for lane separation, perimeters and pedestrian protection; panel fencing with bases, gates and screen; and trailer-mounted portable traffic signals for one-lane, two-way operation.
Yes — anything built from letters, numerals and wording. Custom street name signs, event and wayfinding signs, AUTHORIZED TRAFFIC ONLY, parking and access notices, site rules and project boards, along with the posts and hardware to mount them. We install signs as well as supply them. We do not reproduce logos or produce custom graphic artwork.
